Where You Should Go When You Decide To Vacation In Costa Rica

Traveling to a new country is always exciting. However, you want to be sure to do your research prior to traveling in order to ensure that you are able to make the most out of your trip. The same is true when you are traveling to Costa Rica. Below, we will be going over some of the different places you should consider going when you are vacationing in Costa Rica.

Where You Should Go In Costa Rica:

  1. San Jose

If you are interested in the city and seeing the capital, you are going to want to check out San Jose. San Jose is the capital of Costa Rica and it is at the very center of Costa Rica’s city life. There are plenty of things that you can do while you are in San Jose which will allow you to enjoy your time. For one, you can visit the Mercado Central which is the central market located in San Jose. This is a cultural institution where you will find all kinds of locals looking to purchase groceries for their week.

Along with this, you can find everything being sold at this market including fresh coffee, ice cream, candy, and more. You can also visit the Museum Nacional which is the National Museum of the country that tells the entire story of it. It tells the story of the country through art, crafts, and excavations. It used to be a fortress for the military and it is an excellent attraction for those that are interested in learning about the history of the country.

  1. Guanacaste

This is an excellent option for any traveler that is looking for some of the best beach destinations. This particular town features some of the best surfing experiences throughout the entire country. It has a lot of the intimate and exclusive resorts which makes them the absolute perfect place for those looking for a relaxing experience. This is an especially good area for those that are looking to travel with kids or for those that want to participate in water activities.

  1. Tortuguero

This is another good option for those that are looking for a unique experience in Costa Rica. Here, you will find an animal lovers dream. This area features some of the densest jungles and canals that you will be able to find just about any sort of wildlife that you want to. A lot of people come here to experience the sea turtle nesting process. However, you will be able to see all kinds of wildlife from wild monkeys to iguanas.

  1. Corcovado National Park

If you are someone that is an adventurer, you are going to want to try out some of the excellent things that you can take on in nature. Corcovado National Park is one of the best places to get in a good hike if you are looking to explore the Amazon of Costa Rica on either foot or underwater. You can take a tour and be accompanied by a local guide that should be able to show you around.

  1. Quepos

If you are looking to explore and trek around, you should consider heading to Quepos. Quepos will not only provide you with some beaches after your long trek, but you will be able to track birds, drive, and more. There are plenty of hotels to stay at throughout the region and you can even check out Manuel Antonio National Park which is home to the country’s single most popular beach which attracts both locals and travelers that are on vacation.

  1. Florblanca

This is another good option for those that are looking for a luxury experience. While it might be very close to Punta Islita, it is much more extravagant.   1. The Osa Peninsula

If you are looking to engage in animal watching, there is perhaps a no better place to do so than the Osa Peninsula. Here, you will find everything from birds to monkeys and whales. Essentially, if something is living and breathing in Costa Rica, you will find it here. You should be able to find just about any animal native to Costa Rica here which makes it an animal lover’s dream.

Overall, there are many different places you should check out depending on what kind of experience you are looking for. If you are someone that is looking for a city experience and to learn about the history of Costa Rica, you might be more interested in San Jose. Whereas, if you are someone that is interested in the beaches and having a great time surfing, you might be more interested in Guanacaste.

However, there are plenty of different places to experience throughout the country and you should be able to find a specific place or region that meets your needs and expectations. Be sure that you are attentive to when you are traveling so you know what kind of weather and conditions you can expect while you are there.

When Is The Best Time To Visit?

When it comes to traveling in and around Costa Rica, one of the main things that you are going to want to be fully aware of is the seasons. The landscapes and climates of Costa Rica are something that varies greatly from region to region. However, it is important to know when you should be traveling in order to ensure that you are able to have a good experience in total. Generally, the Caribbean Coast is going to be hot and humid year-round.

Typically, you will experience a minor break from it being hot, humid, and rainy around September and October. From January to April you should expect a dry season. For this reason, a majority of the travelers looking to go to Costa Rica are going to travel at some point in January. This is the peak travel season in Costa Rica and typically features the best weather and clear skies.
